Grace Fornefeld

My journey in dance started in my teens with hip-hop as my main study. Over the years I've studied and practiced in various styles ranging from Irish dance, to Latin ballroom, to a fusion of modern jazz, to African, to ballet, etc. Performing arts have always been my main practice, but I do enjoy trying different art mediums when opportunities arise. My professional career has been centered around small business as well as non-profits. The arts are my expression and escape. I am grateful that I am able to share the stage and narrative with extremely talented and creative individuals.

How does the narrative of Cruces/Intersections affect you?

The narrative is relevant more now than its been in my life. I see change with my peers and others in my age group. The middle time in life where many make big life changes. The work has been to sit and accept where I am presently with everything in my life. Trying to figure out the next move is always overwhelming, but yet I am starting to find more joy in the process of it.

What has Cruces/Intersections made you think about in your own life?

Before my adult years, I always thought my paths were very black and white with no room to make changes or have other opportunities. Now, I see more of the grey in my choice making. I try to stop and smell the roses even in the most stressful moments. I try to continuously reflect and learn my lessons. Life is a series of many events, but I am learning to move through them with a broader and more compassionate view as I age.
