Cross-pollinating dance communities
Iris Rosa Dance Studio in Indianapolis, Indiana, exposes and educates participants to various dance and music genres to expand understanding of history, culture, and community.
“This is not just a studio of one feature. I want to cross-pollinate populations, dance genres, and music instruction.
I want to offer dance classes to enjoy, learn technique, history, performance, feel comfortable in a dance space, and serve the community.
This is your opportunity to engage in the joy and love for dance.”
— Iris Rosa
We are a space for the community to experience different dance forms, such as Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Tap, and Caribbean, Latin, and African dance traditions.
The studio offers dance classes, dance workshops, and intensives, and is available for rental for dance instruction and rehearsals.
We prioritize being a space that is inclusive of all dance genres and dancers within the community.
Iris Rosa Dance Studio creates informed, well-rounded dancers and performers.
Housed within the Iris Rosa Dance Studio, Seda Negra/Black Silk Dance Company (SNBSDC) utilizes a fusion of dance genres and expressions to tell stories and explore political, social and cultural narratives, as well as lived experiences of people in the African Diaspora.
SNBSDC is a performing company comprised of dancers representing diverse backgrounds and professions. The company shares stories and artistry with the Indianapolis community and beyond through performances and workshops.
