Cherese Dillman
I’m from Indianapolis, and I’ve been dancing nearly my entire life, in many dofferent styles. I have been a part of several local dance organizations and companies over the years, and have also taught various styles of dance. I attended Indiana University in Bloomington from 2004-2009, where I was in the African American Dance Company, and a member of the IU Restepper Dance Team. I work in sales and live here in Indy with my husband and two children (Skyler 10, and Charlie 3), dog, and 2 cats. I also teach Tap classes for adults at Iris Rosa Dance Studio. In addition to dancing, I enjoy yoga, live music, and traveling.
How does the narrative of Cruces/Intersections affect you?
The narrative is interesting because it is relevant to everyone. While dancing, I find myself incorporating my own real life situations into my movement and expression. It allows the piece to become very personal for me.
What has Cruces/Intersections made you think about in your own life?
It has inspired me to reflect back on certain points in my life, especially moments of change or significantly challenging moments. I am looking back at those points through a new lens. It is interesting to think about what today would be like if I had chosen different paths at different times, and what factors led me to where I am today.
